The Reel Thing Film Series Presents -"Sean's Pick": Adaptation
The Reel Thing Film Series, presented by Lexus of Richmond Hill
What is "Sean's Pick"?
"Sean's Pick" are just that, films of notable cinematic significance, hand-picked by Richmond Hill-based, multi-award winning filmmaker, Sean Cisterna. Sean will introduce each "Sean's Pick" film, followed by post-screening chat with Sean and a special guest (or two) about topics related to the screening.
Sean will be joined by special guest screenwriter, Willem Wennekers, for this screening.
Why "Adaptation"?
"I chose Adaptation... because it's a masterclass in blending reality with fiction, offering a unique take on the creative process. The film not only explores the challenges of adapting a story, but also delves deep into the psyche of a writer struggling with self-doubt and artistic integrity. It's a fascinating exploration of storytelling, with a script that constantly surprises and challenges its audience." - Sean Cisterna
About Adaptation
Nicholas Cage is Charlie Kaufman, a confused L.A screenwriter overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy, sexual frustration, self-loating, and by the screenwriting ambitions of his freeloading twin brother Donald (Nicolas Cage). While struggling to adapt to "The Orchid Thief," by Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep), Kaufman's life spins from pathetic to bizarre. The lives of Kaufman, Orlean's book, become strangely intertwined as each one's search for passion collides with the others. Contains mature content.
